Time sensitive or urgent service opportunities

360 Communities

  • Deep clean kitchens and play areas at Lewis House (domestic shelter for women and children) at Hastings and Eagan locations.
  • Cleaning food shelf at Burnsville Resource Center, clean fridge and back warehouse area, assemble some shelving at Rosemount Resource Center (has to be assembled outside since there isn't room inside the resource center.

Open Door Food Pantry  

  • Open Door is looking for groups to "adopt" a day of the week to help "Lunchbox," their mobile meal distribution for children. It is a 12-week program beginning June 18 and running through August 16 (Mondays, Wednesdays or Thursdays--Tuesdays are already covered). at two different sites in Burnsville. The two sites are Arbor Vista Community and Chancellor Manor. They need 3-5 volunteers per day from 11am-12:30pm.

  • Clean out garage at Open Door House--take old computer/printers/etc to recycling center in Eagan, sort furniture and take usable items to Goodwill, sort and organize garden supplies
  • Clean out Eagan pantry, including stock shelves, wash out organic/recycling sorting trash bins, etc.

  • Currently looking for volunteers to help clean up yards for clients they serve.

Urban Ventures

Low Commitment Opportunities

The Open Door Food Shelf

Visit The Open Door website  and click Get Involved in the main menu. There you can sign up for individual or group volunteering opportunities.

  • "Shoppers"--volunteers to guide Open Door's clients through the food shelf as they look for food they can get.
  • Garden program in the summer where they teach people to garden and how to harvest the veggies, including canning/freezing.
  • Bigger groups need to go in and restock the shelves. This opportunity does not include contact with people using the food shelf.

Mission Outpost

Multiple opportunities to volunteer including helping families go through the food shelf or clothing closet, sorting donations, and refilling and reorganizing shelves. Check out their website for more details and sign up.

Together for Good

Temporary care for children in vulnerable situations. Contact our local TFG representative to get involved.

  • Supporting host families (food, supplies, transportation, etc.)

360 Communities

Urban Ventures

Beautiful and Loved Ministry

  • On the second Friday of each month, interested people can gather to pack 268 care packages for women, managers, and bouncers who work at strip clubs in the Twin Cities. The assemblers then pray for each of the people who will receive the bags the next night, when a trained team hand delivers them to each person.

Higher Commitment Opportunities

Berean Packing & Cleaning Team

Berean is putting together a team of people who can help families in our community who are moving. Before a family moves, the team help pack the family's belongings, then after the move, the team helps clean the  empty residence. Contact our Moving Team coordinator

Together for Good

Temporary care for children in vulnerable situations. Contact our local TFG representative to get involved.

CATCH (Coalition for Affordable/Transition Community Housing)

Berean sponsors a housing unit in Lakeville. Currently looking for a group that would take this on as their ministry:

  • Cleaning/painting in between resident stays.
  • Checking in with families once a month, bless them in different ways
  • Contact CATCH coordinator for more details or to volunteer.

CAP Agency

  • Project Student Success program--help stuff and distribute backpacks for students in need in our community. Contact Project Student Success or call 952.402.9839 to serve.
  • Crisis Nursery is a child abuse and neglect prevention program. They need a volunteer for the Crisis Nursery as well as donations of diapers, wipes, clothing, formula, and blankets. Call 952.402.9851 to serve.

What a great privilege to feed those in need! Drop off NON-PERISHABLE food items WITHIN the first full week of each month! Drop-off bin located between Doors 1 and 2 only. Contact Lori Utecht with questions.

When parents face crisis, children are at risk. Let's ensure that vulnerable mothers and kids in Dakota County never walk alone. Berean families are developing a relationship with Together for Good to assist in this community support program.

Urban Ventures is a faith-based non-profit organization that serves families in South Minneapolis. They have a variety of programs that you can get involved with listed on their website.



The Open Door Pantry is a local food shelf and mobile pantry helping bring food security to our neighbors in the south metro.






Mission Outpost, located at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Burnsville, provides food, clothing, and furniture to people in need. They have many opportunities to volunteer, including helping families go through the food shelf or clothing closet, sorting donations, and refilling and reorganizing shelves.

Matrix Housing Services oversees a homeless shelter that rotates between churches south of the river.



360 Communities is an agency that offers support for families through food shelf, domestic violence shelter, and financial aid. We partner with them quite a bit with financial assistance offered to people in our community.





Arrive Ministries is a Christian-based ministry out of Richfield that works with refugee families in the Twin Cities, including south of the river.



CAP Agency assists and empowers people in Scott, Carver, and Dakota County to achieve social and economic well-being.



CATCH (Coalition for Affordable/Transitional Community Housing) provides transitional housing for families coming out of homelessness. They have seven housing units that different churches sponsor, which includes cleaning/painting in between families residing there.

Darts supports older adults' independence through a variety of services including transportation, house cleaning, and lawn work.
